Carver spent his 'birthday' playing outside with daddy, going to the doctor, getting shots and napping. What a day.
(Daddy hasn't received his share of blog time so this post should make up for it.)

Carver is Five Months Old
The hat makes him look totally chubby but he's still only about 15 pounds. In the past few weeks, Carver has started eating cereal, trying to hold the bottle on his own (but more successfully pushing it away), chatting up a storm, sitting up and toppling over, and scooting around in circles.
PS...doesn't every photographer need a photo of a drooling baby in his/her portfolio? :)

Grandparent Tour - Spring 2008
Carver and I put on over 800 miles this past weekend during our Spring Tour to see the grandparents. We headed to Minnesota on Saturday, Iowa on Sunday and back to Wisconsin Monday. Grandma Linda had been up to see us earlier that week so we managed to see all of the grandparents (Linda, Jean & Jim), Great-Grandmas Sexton & Grifhorst and 'surrogate grandparents' (Dan & Laura Kreofsky) in one week's time. Great-Aunt Lois met up with us at Grandma G's house on Sunday night too.

Rolly Polly
Carver rolled over for the first time today and now it seems that he can't stop! He hasn't quite figured out how to go from his tummy to his back again so he gets rather angry after a few minutes on his stomach. Hopefully he'll figure out that it works both ways soon.

Spring Fever
We were sure spring had arrived last week so we busted out the stroller for its maiden voyage through the streets of Cross Plains in the balmy 38 degree weather. The very next day, the Madison area received another snowfall to top us off at 100.4 inches for the season. Nearly 50 degrees mid-week and more snow expected Wednesday night and Thursday. Will it ever stop? Poor little Carver doesn't know what it's like to see the sun!

Yummy in My Tummy
Carver had his first experience with rice cereal. Of course, more ended up on his face than in his tummy but he enjoyed it either way.

Henry & Carver
Our friends Katherine & Henry came from Minnesota to visit this weekend. We spent Monday morning at the studio playing & photographing Henry's one year portraits.

Carver is Four Months Old!
Okay, so the sweater is a little girlie but it's one that was made by a friend of my mother's when we were babies so we had to keep going with the family tradition. For the record, Carver HATED it!
Carver is now 13.5 lbs and 25 inches. That puts him in the 50th percentile for height and 18 for weight. The doctor said his motor skills are close to the level of a 6 month old and, if that keeps up, she thinks Carver could be walking at 9 months. NOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Grandpa Grif
Carver's Grandpa Grif passed away unexpectedly on February 21. Although he only had three months to enjoy his role as a grandfather, Jim made sure he made regular trips to see Carver, even braving a blizzard on Superbowl weekend to make the 3 1/2 hour drive to Cross Plains. He had big plans for taking Carver camping and fishing in the years to come so Grandpa's fishing pole will be a treasured heirloom, inspiring great story telling when Carver is big enough to join his dad and uncles on the fishing trips to Canada.
Having Carver in our lives during this difficult time has been a real blessing. One can't help but smile when he smiles.

Cousin Stephanie
Our cousin, Stephanie, has been helping out with Carver and at the studio while she's home from college.
First Smiles
Carver blessed us with his first smiles a few days ago. He loves the mobile in his crib and watching the animal's butts flying around above his head.

The Christmas Bear
Our friend Sandi sent Carver his first Christmas Bear. Her family purchased a bear with the year embroidered on the foot each year they had a child so she passed the tradition on to us. Thanks Sandi!
